The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, Benue State has expressed optimism that the state governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia will beat the December 1st deadline set by the national leadership of the union as the last month for the implementation of the new national minimum wage
Benue State Secretary of NLC, Comrade Joshua Abimiku disclosed this Monday while speaking with The Voice on the recent directive from the National Secretariat of NLC calling on states councils to embark on indefinite strike if their respective states government fails to implement the new minimum wage.
Comrade Abimiku said government and Labour have agreed on N75,000 minimum wage, explaining that, what is left, is to finalize the terms and for government to sign the agreement for the commencement of the new pay.
“I believe that the amiable governor of Benue State will ensure that the new minimum wage is reflected in this November Salary”
The secretary added that the wage is based on the capacity of the state government and noted that, because of its urgency, it has to be concluded despite the high expectation this month.
On the 30,000 consequential adjustment, he said the process is still on as well as other arrears. According to him, labour had to give government the benefit of the doubt on emoluments to be trashed for easy payment.
