Candidates for the forthcoming Benue State Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ elections have vowed to tackle the protracted issue of Weigh- in allowance for the staff of Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation, BPPC , Publishers of The Voice Newspaper.
The promise was made Tuesday at the newsroom of The Voice Newspaper, where candidates for the NUJ election slated for Saturday, 16th November 2024, had an interface with members of NUJ The Voice Chapel.
Chairman, NUJ, Radio Benue Chapel and Leader of Bemdoo Ugber Campaign, Mr Paul Mandeun in his remarks assured that the new exco when sworn-in, will carry everyone along, noting that Radio Benue has presented a goal-getter who will introduce innovations, adding that the welfare of members will be prioritised.
Delivering his speech, the incoming Chairman of NUJ Benue State, Mr Bemdoo Ugber, who is a staff of Radio Benue, enjoined all editorial staff of BPPC to be part of the inauguration of the incoming State exco on Saturday. He thanked God almighty for restoring peace to the State NUJ.
Comrade Ugber assured NUJ, The Voice Chapel that he would ensure the chapel benefits from the weigh-in allowance as modalities are been put in place to see that it becomes a reality.
According to him, he would also ensure that the NUJ secretariat gets a facelift.
Chairman, NUJ, The Voice Chapel, Mr James Shim, in his remarks congratulated the incoming Chairman for the great personalities that have formed his team, noting that they would bring their wealth of experience to work and the union will experience progress and growth.
The Editor of The Voice Newspaper, Mr Solomon Ayado, called for continued peace in the NUJ so that the union can forge ahead. He also urged the incoming chairman to restore the lost image of NUJ in the state and advised them to foster peace, development and welfare of members.
