Director General, Benue State Budget and Economic Planning Commission (BSBEPC), Prof. Jerome Andohol has advised government Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) to focus on issues that are encapsulated in the blueprint of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration.
Prof Andohol made this remark while speaking at the 2025 budget defense by MDAs, Thursday at the Conference Hall of BSBEPC, Makurdi.
He said the budget from MDAs should focus on relevant issues like human capital development, food security and digital economy, health, availability of food for all to enhance the general well-being of the Benue people.
The Director General told representatives of MDAs present that, to achieve the above objectives, there is the need to make sacrifices and a cost realistic budget as the state need a budget that is achievable and implementable.
Prof Andohol disclosed that assumptions of the 2024 budget collapsed because of inflation and exchange rate volatility, urging MDAs to work with the current economic reality on ground, capture pressing issues of concern for the good of the Benue people.
Over fifty (50) MDAs including Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation (BPPC), have defended their budgets. The exercise which began Thursday, November 14th is expected to end on Monday, November 18th, 2024.
