World toilet Day: BenSESA Stresses importance of hygiene, promises more toilets

The Benue State Environmental Sanitation Authority (BenSESA) has called on Benue populace to imbibe good toilet hygiene habit, as it is as important as every other thing to humanity.

The Public Relation Officer, BenSESA, Mr Iorver Simon, who spoke on behalf of the GM, Jennifer Daniels on the occasion, stated that BenSESA was poised to create the necessary awareness to the public as the world commemorates World toilet day which is celebrated globally on November 19th every year.

He explained that, this year’s theme: “Toilet, a place of peace” entails that “as humans, whatever one consumes there must be a good point of disposal to enable a heathy and productive living and must be kept clean.”It is not government responsibility alone to ensure that people keep their premises, toilets inclusive clean but all. What your dettol can do, the hospital can not for you especially when you are infected through a toilet facility, since some infections can cause a life time damage ” He added.

Commenting on the issue of open defecation and inadequate public toilet facilities in the state, he revealed that with the Federal Ministry of Environment partnering with the state, and Governor Hyacinth Alia’s support to BenSESA, more public toilets facilities will be seen at strategic locations where they are few and where none existed in no distant time from now.
