The 19th Commandant of Command Secondary School (CSS), Makurdi Thursday paid a courtesy visit to Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation (BPPC) publishers of The Voice Newspaper to synergize on ways to give the Secondary school the needed publicity.
Speaking at the office of the Acting General Manager of BPPC, Mr Samuel Atachin, the Commandant, Lt Col S I Muhammad, who assumed duty on November, 1st 2024, said his visit to BPPC was to explore ways on how to collaborate, synergize and partner with the organization for better publicity for the school.
The Commandant noted that the Command Secondary School over the years had lacked publicity, saying he was at BPPC to collaborate for the production of the school yearbook and give the school the needed publicity.
“Our duties in the school is to teach students and imbibe military regimentation in them and then open a window to excel and build a career in the military”, he maintained.
Responding, the Acting GM BPPC, Mr Samuel Atachin, welcomed the Commandant and members of his entourage and assured them of collaboration in the coverage and publication of newsworthy events in the Voice Newspaper.
He further explained that the organization was set up as a media house, with a printing press where The Voice Newspaper is produced and other commercial productions are also done.
The Acting GM commended the Alia-led administration who took the bull by the horns to resuscitate the Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation and has provided state-of-the-art equipment to boost the productivity of the organization.
The Administrative Manager, Mr Orinya Ogenyi, in his remarks, added that aside from the hardcopy of The Voice Newspaper, which is produced weekly, the online paper is functional 24 hours and reports news within the state and beyond.
In her remarks, the Vice Principal Administration, Mrs Grace Idikwu, commended the state government for resuscitating BPPC, adding that admissions were still in progress and enjoined Benue indigenes to make use of the opportunity.
Speaking at the office of the Managing Director, Shimatex Nigeria Limited, the Commandant, in his remarks, noted that the 30 percent student population allocated to Benue state has not been achieved, adding that he has renovated one block of 6 classrooms and a boys’ hostel as well as improving the quality and quantity of food given to students; and revived the school farm where students are given a portion to cultivate.
“We have also collaborated with the National Research Institute. We have taken giant strides for not just producing graduands but persons who can be useful to themselves”, he added.
Responding the MD, Shimatex Nigeria Limited, Mr Joel Mtsor commended the Commandant for his passion towards his job and achievements in a short time and promised to collaborate with the Commandant. He assured him that he would pay a visit to the school and do a needs assessment, as he promised to give back to the state as part of their corporate social responsibility.
