Governor Sule condemns rice theft in government farm

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has condemned the theft of rice from the state government’s farm in the Jangwa community, Awe Local Government Area ( LGA) of the state.

Sule warned those engaged in the act to desist henceforth as government will not hesitate to deal decisively with any one caught.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Addra, said the governor stated this when he received a delegation from the Azara community, led by the Sarkin Azara, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim, at the Government House in Lafia on Thursday.

According to the statement, Sule expressed disappointment over the theft, describing it as a setback for the government’s efforts to boost food security and provide relief to residents.

Addra quoted the governor as saying “Whereas the state government is pleased with the yield recorded it is however saddened by the level of theft recorded during the harvest”.

The governor described the situation as very unfortunate at a time the state is doing everything possible to bring relief to the people and boost food security in the state and beyond.

” We will not be deterred. We are determined that Nasarawa State being an agricultural state; that government must be at the forefront in agricultural activities,” he added.

He , therefore thanked the traditional rulers and people of the area for their level of cooperation towards the success recorded on the farm.
