Tiv women in Lagos State have lauded the Initiative of the wife of the Tor Tiv, Her Royal Majesty, Prof (Mrs) Felicia Ayatse to establish the Kasev-Tiv Bam Cooperative Alliance Limited (KTB).
The women said the bank would serve as a poverty relieving measure that can help them achieve financial independence.
They bared their minds at the introduction of the cooperative in Lagos State by the Founder and wife of the Tor Tiv HRM, Prof Mrs Felicia Ayatse.
The Ngô u Tiv while addressing the Tiv women at Country Club in Lagos disclosed that the initiative was born out of the desire of herself and husband to improve the living standards of Tiv women in his kingdom.
“As parents, we feel your plight and have fervently prayed to God to show us how we can alleviate your predicament and God has directed us to establish the Kasev-Tiv Bam Cooperative Alliance Limited with a view to providing loans to you to start or increase your own businesses and develop skills that can surely put food on your table as well as carter for other needs of your family”, the Ngô stated.
A release from Freddie Adamgbe, Special Assistant to Tor Tiv on Media and ICT quotes the Ngo u Tiv saying “the Kasev-Tiv Bam Cooperative Alliance Limited is a model of a Bangladesh Micro Finance Bank – Grameen Bank, that has significantly changed the lives of thousands of women. This model is a loan strictly designed for investment into businesses to grow. We can give you loans at a low interest rate of just eight percent”.
Speaking, the Project Director of Kasev-Tiv Bam Cooperative Alliance Limited, Mr. Emmanuel Dôughdôugh, a former University Registrar and a Graduate of Grameen Bank Training Institute, Dhaka, Bangladesh, explained that Kasev Tiv Bam Cooperative Alliance Ltd is a modernization of the Tiv traditional banking institution specifically designed to serve Tiv women globally.
“Powered by technology, the cooperative is intended to serve Tiv women of all categories wherever they may be”, he said.
In their reactions, notable Tiv women in Lagos State such as Jonathan Ichaver, Founder of Sesor Empowerment Foundation, Dr Monica Hemban Eimunijeze, Convener., D’Bio Wellness and Self-care Summit and Mrs Mbasen Lawal all expressed gratitude to the Ngô u Tiv for the great initiative, which, according to them is the greatest leverage to the prosperity of Tiv women across the globe.
They promised to spread the ‘good news’ to every Tiv woman to embrace the program with a view to contributing to the economic endeavors of their husbands.
