NOA donates equipment worth 15 million naira to hospitals in Benue

President of Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA), Dr. Anderson Chimeziri has disclosed that, the Association has donated basic eye care equipment worth fifteen million naira to five General Hospitals across Benue State.

Dr. Chimeziri stated this, when he embarked on a thank you visit to the state government for a successful free eye care program with free eye surgery which commenced across the local governments in November this year and for resolving some of the challenges faced by the Optometric Doctors in the state.

He said, five existing General Hospitals; Makurdi, Vandeikya, Gboko, Kastina-Ala and Otukpo respectively under his leadership are also under going renovation. The President of NOA who is also a consultant at the General Hospital, North Bank acknowledged that the project was in partnership with the State Government and supported by the one sight Esilor Luxohica Foundation.

Dr. Chimeziri, in his capacity as president of NOA appealed to Governor Hyacinth Alia and donor agencies to provide more modern sophisticated diagnostic equipment to enable the optometric doctors in these centres make accurate diagnoses, treatment and provide glasses to patients.

The President of NOA who was in company of other doctors appealed to the State Head of Service, Dr. Agbogbo Ode to conveyed their message to Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Dr. Chimeziri while appreciating the governor for approving the free eye care program with free eye surgery, commended him for keeping to his promises by ensuring the welfare of civil servants and the tremendous improvements in the health sector.

In his remark, the Head of Service, Dr. Agbogbo Ode promised to convey their message to Governor Alia, noting that that their thank you message will spur the governor to do more, not just in the health sector but overall development of the state.
