Benue State House of Assembly, has passed into law Bills to rename Benue State University, Makurdi after the former governor of the state, Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu and the one for the establishment of Benue State University of Agriculture, Science and Technology (BSUAST), Ihugh in Vandeikya Local Government Area of the State.
The two Bills were passed into law during Monday’s Plenary, presided over by the Speaker, Hon. Hyacinth Dajoh and held at the hearing hall, Benue State House of Assembly, Makurdi.
The House said, the renaming of Benue State University after Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu is to honour the former governor for his developmental strides and commitment towards the establishment of the university while the establishment of State University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihugh in Vandeikya Local Government Area is to provide core agriculture, science and technology training as well as job opportunities to the teeming graduates and citizens of the State.
Adasu, who was also a Catholic priest established the university when he was a governor of the state between 1991 and 1992.
