In less than twenty four hours, after emerging winners of the Dr Jeffrey Kuraun Foundation Super 4 tournament, the Flight FC of Gboko again, left the Moses Orkuma FC also of Gboko in a shocking mood after carting home with the golden medal at the 9th edition of Chief, Sebastine Tar Hon SAN, Unity Soccer Competition.
The final which took place at the JS Tarka stadium Gboko, was graced by a mammoth crowd including football fans and spectators within and outside the state.
Kicked off at 4:15 pm with great intensity, it took just 25 minutes into the game, to make a difference between the two finalists, when Agugu Benjamin found the back of the net for the Flight FC.
Peter Ugbede equalized for the Moses Orkuma FC in the 49th minute, to keep his side’s hope of retaining the number one spot of the tournament alive as defending champions.
However, Wuaihyo Christopher Selu dashed the hopes of the Orkuma Boys for a back to back win despite their fantastic display as he scored in the 85 minute to seal the victory for the Flight FC of Gboko.
The match ended 2:1 in favour of the Flight FC of Gboko, while Moses Orkuma FC came as first Runners up with Mighty Junior FC of Gboko emerging as second Runners up.
In addition to the major prizes given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions, other players also won consolation prizes for their exceptional performance in the tournament. They included, Ugbede Peter as the Most Valuable Player; Melai Jr as the best goalie; Emmanuel Soja, Highest Goals Scorer; Orhungur Donald as the Best Coach as well as Young Stars of Gboko going home with the prize of the Most fair Play Team of the tournament.
