…Extols the virtues of late Mama Katsina Alu
Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has assured the people of Ushongo Local Government of his commitment to ensuring the development of their area.
Governor Alia gave this assurance on Saturday while speaking during the funeral service in honour of late Mrs Deanna Elaine Katsina Alu, wife of the former Chief Judge of Nigeria (CJN), late Justice Aloysius Katsina Alu, which held at Victory Saints Assembly, Alu.
The Governor who noted the support given him by the Ushongo people during his election said he would leave no stone unturned towards ensuring that people of the area enjoy dividends of democracy.
He therefore promised to establish an orange processing factory in the area to not just reduce waste, but also ensure that the people get value for their oranges which they produce in very large quantity even as he assured that he would facilitate the renovation of Government Secondary School, Alu which is one of the legacies of the late Chief Justice.
Governor Alia also called on Ushongo people to take advantage of the policies and programmes of his administration especially in the agricultural sector towards creating wealth for themselves.
Speaking further, the Governor described the late Mrs Deanna Elaine Katsina Alu as a very loving and caring mother who gave her all towards ensuring the well being of not just her family, but anyone that came in contact with her.
Governor Alia who disclosed that he had a long standing relationship with the Katsina Alu family begining from his formative years, described the late Justice Aloysius Katsina Alu as a worthy ambassador who stood for the welfare of Ushongo people during his lifetime.
He therefore called on the children of the late Justice Aloysius and his wife to put aside all their differences and live harmoniously as a mark of honour to their deceased parents.
Earlier in their various remarks, the Mue Ter Mbagwa, His Royal Highness, Chief Dr. Gems Alu, the Majority Leader, Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Saater Tiseer, the Chairman, Ushongo Local Government Council, Hon. Terkimbi Adzuu as well as the eldest son of late Chief Justice, Eric Ter Katsina Alu all thanked Governor Alia and other sympathizers for standing by the family at their trying moment.
They further expressed appreciation to the Governor for the ongoing road projects within the area saying it is a clear demonstration of his love for the people.
They further appealed to the Governor to establish another secondary school withing the area towards ensuring that more children are enrolled.
Among sympathizers who were present to pay last respect to the late Mrs Deanna Elaine Katsina Alu was the former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) boss, Farida Mzamber Waziri.
The late Justice Aloysius Katsina Alu who served as Chief Judge of Nigeria (CJN) from 2009 to 2011, passed away on July 18th, 2018 at the age of 76, while his wife Mrs Deanna Elaine Katsina Alu passed away on December 11th, 2024 also at the age of 76.
