The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State Council has passed a Vote Of Confidence on Governor Hyacinth Alia for his developmental initiatives especially in the areas of infrastructure, healthcare delivery, workers’ welfare and quick response to security issues in the state with particular reference to the attention given to the security challenges in the North Bank area of Makurdi, the state capital recently.
The Vote Of Confidence was passed by the NUJ at the end of its first general meeting for the year 2025 which was held at the NUJ House, Makurdi on Wednesday January 8th and presided over by the State NUJ Chairman, Comerade Bemdoo Ugber.
According to the communique, “The Congress also passes Vote Of Confidence on key media officers of the Governor: The Technical Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategic Communication, Chief Solomon Iorpev and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula for their sustained efforts in projecting activities, policies and programmes of government in the right perspective.
“It also sues for unity amongst political actors in the state and enjoins them to work for the interest of Benue rather than their personal gains.
“The Congress applauds the Governor for sponsoring medical treatment for a member of the union, Comerade Paul Mandeun and also appeals to him to extend the gesture to other members in critical conditions.
“The Congress assures the Governor of sustained support through propagation of its activities and programmes for the good of the Benue people.
“The Congress ratifies appointment of two Ex-Officios: Naomi Okoh and Torvande Acka; State Advisory Council as well as Standing Committees and charged members to discharge their duties with diligence.
