The Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa has matriculated 15,000 students for its National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND) and part time programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The Acting Rector of the institution, Dr Hauwa Muhammad, presided over the 41st matriculation ceremony on Saturday at the school in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
She stated that the students were eligible to start their academic programmes, which was why they were admitted and matriculated.
Muhammad urged the students to abide by the school rules and regulations in order to preserve the calm environment that is currently ideal for learning.
She also cautioned them against any act of examination malpractice, adding that anyone caught will be dealt with decisively by the school management.
“It may interest you to know that in the last academic session no fewer that 100 persons who engaged in examination malpractices were expelled from the polytechnic and such disciplinary action will continue to be administered,” she added.
The Acting Rector warned them against engaging in any form of social vices and drug abuse, desist from any form of cultist activities and ensure they maintain peaceful coexistence among themselves.
She added that the institution management under her leadership will continue to improve teaching, research and learning.
“In our efforts to maintain academic quality of our programmes, we have ensured streamlining the number of students intakes with the available infrastructure and resources we have.
“In the same vein we have commenced new programmes such as Railway Engineering Technology, Cement Technology, Welding and so on,” she said.
On his part, the Registrar of the institution, Dr Munir Ahmed said that 15000 students were admitted in the school to study various programmes in the different schools including school of Applied Sciences, Business Studies and Environmental Studies.
Others he said are; school of Engineering Technology, General Studies, Information Technology and Technical and Vocational Education.
He assured that all staff will continue to cooperate with the Acting Rector for a harmonious working relationship and to achieve the goals set out for the institution.
“There is coordination and everybody is being carried along. That is why everything is been run smoothly,” he said.
In an interview with The Voice, Mr Jimoh Temitope, a newly admitted student of the school, thanked the school administration for giving him the chance to study there and promised to achieve academic success.
