Benue Assembly gets new Minority Whip, Deputy Minority Whip

Members representing Konshisha Constituency, Hon. Cephas Dyako and Obi Constituency, Hon Moses Egbodo have emerged as the new Minority Whip and Deputy Minority Whip of the Benue State House of Assembly respectively

Speaker, Hon. Hyacinth Dajoh announced the new positions during Thursday’s Plenary held at the Hearing Hall, Benue State House of Assembly, Makurdi

Hon. Dajoh stated that, the House accepted the decision due to the suspension of former holders of the positions, Hon. William Ortyom representing Agasha Constituency and Hon. Emmanuel Blessed-Onah representing Oju Constituency who are among the Thirteen(13) members currently serving a three months suspension.

Earlier, the Majority Leader, Hon. Saater Tiseer moved a motion drawing the attention of the House to the fact that the suspension had created a leadership vacuum within the minority caucus that needed to be filled immediately. Despite a counter motion by the Minority Leader, Hon. Michael Audu and few others from the PDP to allow the duo to still hold their positions, many lawmakers who were present at the plenary unanimously voted for their removal and subsequent replacement.
