The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has received a letter of commendation from an elder statesman, Chief (Dr) Mike Okibe Onoja, CON, for the ongoing construction of the 37km road through Igumale/Apa/Agila situated in the Benue South Senatorial District.
In the memo dated March 19, 2025, the retired Federal Permanent Secretary conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to Governor Alia for the project, which he described as a “game changer” for the people of Benue State.
In parts of the letter of commendation as shared in a press statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, Chief (Dr) Onoja said, “I am writing to declare my heartfelt gratitude and that of my community for the current construction of the 37 kilometres road through Igumale/Apa/Agila.
“This project is a game changer for our people, and we are thankful for your vision and commitment to our advancement.
“According to the statement, Onoja while applauding the Governor’s efforts towards building up infrastructure in the state, further praised Alia’s leadership style which he declared has produced hope and restoration to the state. He continued that the construction of the road will expedite transportation, advance commercial enterprises, set up jobs, and enhance the comprehensive quality of way of life for the community.
“Your administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure in Benue State have not gone unnoticed,” Chief Onoja said. “The construction of this road will not merely ease transportation but also boost economic enterprises, create jobs, and increase the overall condition of life for our people.
“The Agama of Agila, Akanaba K’Idoma also expressed hope that the road project will be completed to the loftiest standards, given Governor Alia’s commitment to quality and excellence.
“We appreciate your dedication to serving the people of Benue State and your responsibility to leave behind an indelible legacy,” Chief Onoja maintained adding that, “Your leadership has brought hope and renewal to our state, and we are confident that this project will be completed to the highest standards.
“He however, used the moment to appeal that the access road to his house, which is 482 meters from the main road, be included in the project.
“I wish to use this opportunity to plead and request you kindly include the access road to my house which is 482 meters from the main road” Chief Onoja appealed.
