The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has denied claims that he has anointed a successor.
Governor Sule who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant ( SSA) on Public Affairs, Hon Peter Ahemba said he has no preference for a successor.
Ahemba stated this at a Press briefing on Wednesday in Lafia.
He said the governor remains focused on delivering on his mandate and serving the people of the State.
“His Excellency has not made any pronouncement or taken any action indicating his preference for a particular individual to succeed him.
“The state government categorically denies claims by supporters that a successor has been anointed. These claims are entirely false, without merit and designed to cause confusion and misinformation.
“The next governor of the state will be chosen by the people through a democratic process.
“We urge the public to disregard these baseless claims. The governor remains focused on delivering his mandate and serving the people to the best of his ability,” he said.
The SSA explained that Governor Sule was committed to development projects, including the construction and completion of various infrastructural projects across the state.
“Governor Abdullahi Sule is focused on delivering democracy dividends to Nasarawa State people. He is designing policies and programmes, evident in massive growth projects and infrastructural development across the state.
“Notably, the Lafia flyover and underpass project is nearing completion, with finishing touches being applied. Additionally, the state secretariat project is also almost completed, with President Bola Tinubu expected to commission both projects next month,” he added.
On security, Ahemba said the governor has taken proactive approach in addressing insecurity in the state, saying, “His Excellency has invested so much in ensuring that security of lives and properties of the citizenry are protected.”
He attributed the state’s relative peace to the governor’s disposition and political will in dealing decisively with security threats.
Ahemba commended the transparent distribution of rice donated by the Dangote Foundation across local governments and urged citizens to remain law-abiding even as he encouraged them to embrace dialogue in resolving issues.
The SSA congratulated the Muslim faithful on their peaceful conduct during the fasting period and assured that the state government would continue to work to ensure that salaries are paid before the celebration to enable citizens enjoy the occasion with ease.
