The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has bagged an Award of Honour in recognition of his exemplary leadership and commitment to the Welfare of the people of Benue State.
The award was presented to the governor by 31 Cadet ASPs of the Regular Course 7 of the Nigerian Cadet Academy Kano who are of Benue origin and on attachment in the state.
Addressing the cadet ASPs during a courtesy call on Wednesday at the Old Banquet Hall of Government House, Makurdi, Governor Alia said it was very exciting to have them back home.
“I am very excited to receive all of you back home. My heart is quite gladdened because you are my answered prayers from God.
“It is usually exciting to step out from this state and then you meet very great officers introducing themselves to you as your sons from Benue or your daughters from Benue
“I keep praying that Nigeria needs your services and our state needs your services even more. So let most of our young people join your ranks and see how they can earn a life, how they can protect lives, how they can better the state and even the nation to keep it safe and secured.”
The Governor charged them to always be patriotic and good ambassadors of Benue in their school and wherever they may be posted after their graduation.
“I would encourage you to be great patriots, be great ambassadors not only in the school, but at the end of the day where ever you will be posted after graduation.”
He congratulated them and promised to attend their passing out parade scheduled to hold later this year.
Earlier in his remarks, leader of the delegation, Cadet ASP Joshua Igbashar said all the 31 members of the delegation were indigenes of Benue and were in the state on attachment.
According to Cadet ASP Igbashar, they were in Government House to pay a courtesy visit to the Governor and acknowledge the efforts he has been making to reposition the state in all sectors and prayed God to grant him the grace and wisdom to do more
Cadet ASP Igbashar revealed that over the past five years at the Academy, they all distinguished themselves both in character and in learning, adding that amongst them were 3 First Class Graduates.
