The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation has called on the State Pension Bureau to ensure fairness and transparency in the disbursement of pension and gratuity to retirees.
The Chairman of House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon Hudu A. Hudu, made the demand when the Director General of the Bureau, Alhaji Suleiman Nagogo, appeared before the committee for its 2025 budget assessment.
Hon Hudu called on the leadership of the Bureau to exhibit high standards of transparency and accountability to ensure that there is equal treatment for all beneficiaries.
He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for consistently approving pension payments and assured that the House will sustain support to pensions through monitoring of the bureau’s activities for the desired welfare of pensioners.
Responding, the Director General of the Bureau Alhaji Suleiman Nagogo, thanked the committee for their support, stating that Governor Sule has given approvals for pension and gratuity payments to enhance the welfare of retirees.
He pledged to sustain the momentum in pension payments.
In a similar development, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has called on the State Ministry of Water Resources to provide residents with access to portable water.
The House Committee on Water Resources, led by Hon John Ovey, made the call during the ministry’s 2025 budget assessment.
Hon Ovey who underscored the importance of water to human and societal development, challenged the Ministry to endeavour to provide portable water to citizens.
“He who provides water, provides life,” he said, emphasiaing the essential role of water in sustaining human life.
The Committee Chairman however commended the Commissioner for Water Resources Hon Muhammed Muluku for his efforts and promised adequate support of the House.
Hon Ovey also encouraged the Ministry to boost irrigation farming through water supply.
On his part, the Commissioner appreciated the committee’s support and disclosed that he has toured water facilities across the state to identify challenges.
He stated that the ministry was committed to providing portable water, with a blueprint in place to achieve this goal.
