Rev. Nongo calls on Christians to prioritize God’s will

A communicant member of the NKST (Universal Reformed Christian Church) Iortyer in Iortyer-classis, Rev. Sesugh Nongo, has urged Christians to do what is right in God’s sight, rather than following their own understanding.

He made this call during a Tiv worship service on Sunday that coincided with the launch of the Women Fellowship’s initiative to remodel their secretariat under the theme “Do His Will, Not Your Wishes”.

Rev. Nongo read from Judges 21:25, John 21:17, and Proverbs 14:12, highlighting the consequences of rejecting God’s will. He noted that many Christians today have backslid, returning to their old lives, and encouraged them to rededicate their lives to Christ.

The cleric emphasized that rejecting God’s will can lead to a loss of effectiveness in our endeavors. He stressed the importance of trusting in God’s guidance, citing Proverbs 3:5-6, which instructs us to acknowledge Him in all ways. Rev. Nongo also referenced Matthew 6:9-13, where Jesus provides a model for prayer.

“This underscores the importance of trusting in God’s guidance rather than relying solely on our own understanding. As Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs, acknowledging Him in all ways leads to straight paths. Our limited understanding and knowledge are insufficient to guide us; hence, Jesus provides a model for prayer in Matthew 6:9-13, teaching us not just what to pray, but how to pray, by His own example.”

Rev. Nongo encouraged Christians to prioritize God’s will, warning that those who refuse to submit to His truth will face an inglorious end, while those who submit will enjoy a glorious destiny.
