The Zumunta Association, USA, is set to train 1,000 youths on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as part of activities of its convention scheduled for July 2025 in Nasarawa State.
Dr Salisu Abdullahi, a former President of the association revealed this when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Kwanta Yakubu on Friday in Lafia.
According to Abdullahi, the training is part of the Association’s commitment to giving back to the society.
“Zumunta Association USA has been consistent and we have been giving back to the society through empowerment programmes and the Governor of Nasarawa, Engr Abdullahi Sule is a founding member of the Association, who has been instrumental in its growth.
He explained that the Association will also organise a three-day medical outreach for residents of the state, providing the much-needed healthcare services to the community.
“We will bring hybrid of investors to Nasarawa State considering the proximity of the State to the Federal Capital Territory as well as the good roads and the relative peace in the State.
“We will also hold a golf tournament thereby bringing the best golfers across the globe to participate in the tournament.This will also bring investment in the sports sector,” Abdullahi added.
He revealed that the convention is being held in collaboration with the Federal Government, expressing gratitude to the Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Hon Yakubu for the opportunity to interact him and share their plans.
Responding, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Kwanta Yakubu, expressed the state government’s commitment to supporting the Zumunta Association USA’s convention.
He commended the Association’s decision to host the convention in Nasarawa State given the state’s prevailing security, infrastructural development, and peace.
“I believe the hosting of the association’s convention in Nasarawa State is a deliberate act to honour Governor Sule, who is one of you,” he said.
Hon Yakubu assured the Association of the state government’s support and cooperation in organising various activities.
“I assure you of our support and cooperation to hold training for our youths in ICT as well as medical outreach for the people as a continuation of Governor Sule’s commitment to youth development and healthcare delivery,” he said.
The Commissioner also pledged the state government’s support for the golf tournament.
