The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) commenced its North Central Zonal Congress in Jos, Plateau State, on Saturday. The event aims to elect new zonal officials to lead the party to success in 2027.
Outgoing and incoming party executives, in separate speeches, expressed the party’s readiness to welcome back aggrieved members who recently defected to other parties.
The congress, which is ongoing in Jos, has drawn delegates and party faithful from the five states within the zone and the Federal Capital Territory. The event seeks to strengthen internal structures and resolve post-election challenges.
Prominent figures in attendance include former and current governors, members of the House of Representatives, Senators, and party stalwarts. Participants stress the importance of rebuilding the party’s influence in the North Central zone.
Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Plateau State Governor, reportedly sponsored and supported several activities of the zonal congress in Jos. The results of the congress are being awaited, but the event has proceeded peacefully so far.
