The elevation of NKST (Universal Reformed Christian Church) Iorsar to a Catechism Centre has been met with jubilation. The church, under NKST Iortyer Consistory in Iortyer-Classis, received this prestigious status after fulfilling necessary conditions.
Rev. Teryima Terkaa, Chairman of NKST Iortyer-Classis and Resident Pastor of NKST Ama, made the official declaration on Saturday in the NKST Iorsar Church Auditorium. He stated, “By the authority vested in me as Classis Chairman, I hereby declare NKST Iorsar a Catechism Centre, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”
Earlier, Mr. Aondongu Kembe presented a brief history of NKST Iorsar, tracing its establishment back to 2003 and highlighting its achievements. Deacon Terver Chor subsequently called out the names of over 250 communicant members.
In his opening remarks, Rev. Dr. Akpen Leva, Resident Pastor of NKST Iortyer and Synod Executive Committee Member One, welcomed attendees and commended the Classis Chairman and EXCO for realizing the Iorsar Catechism Centre request.
Chief Iorsar Nyam, Village Head of Nyorgyungu, after whom the church was named, expressed delight at the development and urged that necessary arrangements be made for the church’s potential upgrade to a full Consistory. Other goodwill messages from traditional leaders and individuals echoed similar sentiments, praying for the church’s continued growth.
Rev. Abraham Tertsea Awanya, Resident Pastor of NKST Faajir and Chairman, TEKAN-ECWA block, delivered a sermon emphasizing trust in God as the ultimate victor in life’s battles. Citing 2 Samuel 23:8-12, he highlighted David’s mighty men’s exploits and the Lord’s ultimate victory.
The occasion featured messages of encouragement and financial support from various groups and individuals, all aimed at propelling the new Catechism Centre toward becoming a Consistory.
