Omi-NY-Igede Association, Taraba State branch, has passed a vote of confidence on Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, citing his outstanding achievements in his first two years in office.
The association’s President, Mr. Lawrence Ikpe, made this known in a statement he personally signed at the end of its congress in Jalingo on Monday. According to the statement, the association proudly notes the Governor’s infrastructural development, prompt payment of salaries and pensions to retirees, and efforts to foster peace among Benue communities as notable achievements.
The Omi-NY-Igede Association called on Benue stakeholders to rally behind Governor Alia to end the persistent killings of innocent civilians and enable him to sustain the delivery of more dividends of democracy. They also urged youths to support the Governor’s “Benue Forward” agenda and jointly fight against enemies bent on taking over Benue ancestral lands.
The association stated, “We call on Benue citizens at home and in the diaspora to support the Governor Alia administration to succeed in all sectors of the economy. Governor Alia has focus; hence, the need to give him all encouragements and support.”
The congress also elected new officials, with Mr. Lawrence Ikpe as President General, Paul Idum JP as Vice President, and others. In a post-election speech, President Ikpe appreciated members for the confidence reposed in him and promised to run an open-door policy during his tenure.
The outgoing President, Mr. Joshua Ijabo, expressed gratitude to members for their support and solidarity during his tenure and appealed for continuity to benefit the association.
