The Niger State government has received eight different relief items from the North-South Power Foundation in Minna on Wednesday for the victims of the Mokwa flood disaster. The consultant on Corporate Social Responsibility for North-South Power Foundation, Alhaji Hassan Abdullahi, who led the foundation’s delegation, explained that their visit aimed to commiserate with the government and people of Niger State over the recent flood disaster in Mokwa.
He stated that Niger State is their partner and operational area, necessitating support for the Mokwa flood victims as part of their corporate social responsibility. The consultant emphasized that the foundation has consistently provided humanitarian support to vulnerable individuals in various communities since its inception and pledged to sustain its efforts.
The Commissioner for Humanitarian and Disaster Management, Ahmed Baba Suleiman, who received the items on behalf of the Niger State government, appreciated the North-South Power Foundation for the kind gesture. He assured that the items would be distributed to the flood disaster victims accordingly and as soon as possible.
The donated items include 50 bags each of: Rice, Beans, Semovita, Salt; 50 cartons each of: Maggi, Spaghetti and 50 gallons (5kg each) of: King vegetable oil and Palm oil,
This support comes as the Niger State government, under Governor Mohammed Bago, has announced a N1 billion donation to assist Mokwa flood victims, in addition to other initiatives such as constructing a N7 billion road project to improve connectivity in the affected area
