In a heartfelt message delivered during the funeral service of Engineer Gabriel Ode, elder brother of Benue State Deputy Governor, Barrister Sam Ode, His Eminence Dr. Oliver Aba, Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, has emphasized the importance of forgiveness and love.
Preaching on the theme “You Will Rise Again” at Norcross Memorial Methodist Cathedral Church in Otukpo, Dr. Aba encouraged the congregation to emulate the exemplary life of the deceased, characterized by humility, education, hard work, and charity.
Dr. Aba stressed that nurturing a deeper friendship with Jesus and obeying His commandments is key to living a life of love and forgiveness. “By imitating the lifestyle of Mr. Gabriel, we can experience positive growth and live in harmony with one another,” he said.
Deputy Governor, Barrister Sam Ode, in his remarks, paid tribute to his late brother, describing his passing as a reminder of the inevitability of death and the need for all to be prepared for the appointed time. He expressed gratitude to Governor Hyacinth Alia for his support during the family’s time of grief and prayed for God’s grace to sustain them.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) also paid tribute to the deceased, with National Woman Leader Mrs. Mary Idele Alile and Ter Ushongo, Chief Augustine Kuma, describing Engineer Gabriel Ode as a selfless and charitable individual. They condoled with the family and thanked those who attended the service.
In a poignant tribute, Chris Ikwue Ode, the deceased’s son, described the loss of his father as indescribable, thanking guests for their presence and praying for his father’s soul to rest in eternal peace.
