The Synod of the All Nations Evangelism Ministry has called for the declaration of Fulani Herders as terrorists.
Arising from it’s 2025 Word of Faith Ministers’ Convention held between Wednesday, 18th and Saturday 21st June, 2025, at Faith Cathedral, Makurdi, the Ministry expressed disgust about what it described as “the poor handling of terrorists activities and terrorism in the nation”.
The Synod through a communique issued at the end of it’s meeting and presented by Archbishop Dr Yimam Orkwar who is the Chairman of Synod and President Christian Association of Clergies in Nigeria ( CAC Nigeria) said the Benue killings was purely terrorism in its full manifestation and hence Fulani Herders should be declared terrorists.
The communique read in part:”Synod is highly disturbed about the poor handling of terrorists activities and terrorism in the nation. The Benue killings was purely terrorism in its full manifestation and hence Fulani Herders should be declared terrorists”
” As a nation we must rise up and fight terrorism like other nations across the globe. Terrorists must be identified, arrested and made to face the full wrath of law”.
It therefore advised the federal and state governments not to gloss over recent killings but “take a critical look at the circumstances surrounding the recent attacks in Yelwata,Gwer West, Apa, Otukpo, Makurdi, Agatu and similar attacks on communities in Plateau State and elsewhere in the country with a deep sense of patriotism and loyalty to nationhood.
” Our political leaders, security chiefs, and critical Stakeholders must uphold truth and sincerity in taking decisions and making pronouncements. A situation where persons in public offices paint a different picture, give a wrong diagnosis and proffer solutions that do not align with factual situation is disheartening “.
Accordingly, the Synod reiterated the point that the implementation of the Anti- Open grazing Law and Ranching of cattle remains the solution to the problem.
It called on the newly established Development Commissions particularly the North Central Development Commission , Faith Based Organizations and other agencies to tackle the humanitarian crisis by identifying and resettling affected communities .
The Synod further called on the State and council Chairmen to be decisive about the security situation in the various communities and encouraged the christian faithful, other public spirited persons to remain vigilant and report promptly to security agencies and traditional rulers information that will assist in maintaining a secured environment.
