The Police Command in Nasarawa State has announced a traffic diversion and partial restriction of movement in Lafia, the State capital, ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
According to the statement issued on Tuesday by SP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer ( PPRO) said the diversion affects vehicles coming into Lafia from Akwanga and Makurdi.
He said: “The Nasarawa State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public that there will be a diversion of traffic and partial restriction of movement in Lafia, the state capital, from 6:00 PM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
“Vehicles coming into Lafia from the Akwanga axis will be diverted at Mechanic Village, Azuba to pass through the bypass, Akurba, Mararaba Akunza, and then connect to the Makurdi Road. Vehicles coming from Makurdi will be diverted at Bukan Kwato–Mararaba Akunza to link Akurba and Azuba.”
The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed, assured the public that “adequate security has been deployed to safeguard commuters along all alternative routes.”
Nansel appealed for the public’s understanding and cooperation, emphasizing that “these temporary measures are not intended to cause inconvenience but are necessary to ensure a safe, smooth, and successful presidential visit to Nasarawa State.”
He said the police command regrets any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the support of residents and motorists during this period.
