APC Exco Dismisses Purported Suspension of Party’s  State Chairman 

Not fewer than 18 out of the 27 executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Gayam Ward in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have distanced themselves from the purported suspension of the party’s State Chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello. 

The Voice reports that some  executive members of the ward led by its Chairman,  Ibrahim Iliyasu and Secretary, Ibrahim Kwande had suspended the State Chairman over alleged Anti-party activities.

Speaking at a Press briefing on Wednesday in Lafia, the Assistant Secretary of the party in Gayam Ward , Adamu Bawa said the suspension was unlawful and violated the party’s constitution.

Hon Bawa while speaking on behalf of the 18 executive members in Gayam Ward, dissociated themselves from the purported suspension of Dr Bello describing it as illegal, invalid, and of no effect.

He condemned the actions of the Ward Chairman, Ibrahim Iliyasu and Secretary Ibrahim Kwande, who they noted purportedly suspended Dr Bello without due process.

 “Their actions were taken without consultation, quorum, or consent of the Gayam Ward Executive Committee and without adherence to laid down disciplinary procedures as stipulated in the APC Constitution.

“The Gayam Ward Executive Committee categorically dissociates itself from the purported suspension of Dr Aliyu Bello, the State Chairman of the APC in Nasarawa State, as illegal, invalid, and of no effect whatsoever. 

According to him, 18  members of the Executive members of the APC, Gayam Ward, categorically dissociate themselves from the purported suspension of Dr Bello, as illegal, invalid, and of no effect.

He condemned the actions of Ward Chairman Ibrahim Iliyasu and Ward Secretary Ibrahim Kwande, who purportedly suspended Dr Bello without due process.

“Their actions were taken without consultation, quorum, or consent of the Gayam Ward Executive Committee and without adherence to laid down disciplinary procedures as stipulated in the APC Constitution.

“The Gayam Ward Executive Committee categorically dissociates itself from the purported suspension of Dr Aliyu Bello, the State Chairman of the APC in Nasarawa State, as illegal, invalid, and of no effect whatsoever. 

“The conduct of Ibrahim Iliyasu and Ibrahim Kwande amounts to a gross violation of Article 21 of the APC Constitution (2022 as Amended) and is hereby condemned in its entirety.

“The two of them Ibrahim Iliyasu and Ibrahim Kwande are hereby suspended from office and subsequently referred to the appropriate disciplinary committee for investigation and sanction in line with the provisions of the APC Constitution.

“The Executive Committee reaffirms its loyalty and unflinching support for the leadership of Dr Aliyu Bello as the duly recognised and legitimate State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State”, the spokesperson maintained.

Bawa added that the resolution of the 18 members will be communicated to the APC Local Government, State, and National Secretariat for further action and records.

The committee therefore declared the suspension of Dr Aliyu Bello null and void.
