The remains of Elder Adicks Alu, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Benue State Civil Service, were laid to rest on Saturday according to Christian rites in his hometown, Shitile, Mbanoughul, Mbakor, in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.
Elder Adicks Alu, who died on July 4th, 2025, at the age of 73 after a prolonged illness, was a devoted Christian of the Universal Reformed Christian Church (NKST) faith and a staff of the Benue State Government. He rose through the ranks and retired as a Permanent Secretary in 2012 before being recalled by the Benue State Government and appointed as Commissioner 1 at the Benue Civil Service Commission, where he served between 2012 and 2016.
In his homily during the funeral service, which preceded the interment of the deceased, the Resident Pastor of NKST Annune, Rev. J.T. Iortyer, acknowledged the deceased’s contributions to the Church and community. He urged sympathizers to use his death as a time for reflection and to amend their ways.
Various dignitaries paid tributes to the deceased, describing his death as a great loss to the community and state. These included former Senate President, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu; former governors, Senator Gabriel Suswam and Chief Samuel Ortom; former Senator, Emmanuel Orker-Jev; Executive Chairman of Tarka Local Government, Hon. Raphael Yenge; Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Hon. Manasseh Alumo Orpin; and Member representing Tarka State Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Manger Mcclinton Manger.
The septuagenarian is survived by his wife, Hon. Mrs. Adicks Alu; four children, including Deputy Registrar of Moses Orshio Adashu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), Mr. Terna Alu and Oryiman Alu, former manager of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in Benue State; many grandchildren and other relatives.
