BDIC Backs Media Digitization in Benue

The Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC) said, it has put together a strategic plan to equip journalists in Benue State with digital skills and tools, calling on the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to join hands in the quest for digital transformation.

During an interaction with Journalists  on Monday at the NUJ House, Makurdi, BDIC’s MD, Terwase Gbande, said the agency is committed to ensuring that journalists are not left behind in the ongoing digital revolution.

“Our plan is to establish NUJ Digital Skills Labs and train media professionals on mobile journalism, data storytelling, AI tools, and cybersecurity” Terwase revealed.

He disclosed that the partnership will also support community-based digital news platforms and ICT fellowships for young journalists, creating a pipeline of innovation within the local media space.

Terwase lauded the press as the “conscience of society” and said empowering journalists with 21st-century skills would ensure they continue shaping public discourse in the digital era
