Gov Alia Dissolves State Executive Council, Appoints New Chief of Staff

In a significant reshuffle, Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has dissolved the Benue State Executive Council, effective immediately. As part of the restructuring, the Governor has appointed Barr. Moses Atagher, a seasoned administrator and former Attorney General of the state, as the new Chief of Staff.

The announcement was made by Governor Alia at the conclusion of the 12th (2025) meeting of the Benue State Executive Council on Wednesday. In his remarks, the Governor expressed gratitude to the outgoing Commissioners who served with him for two years, urging those not reappointed to remain loyal to the party and continue contributing to its growth.

The Governor in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, said the dissolution affects only Commissioners, with the former Commissioners directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective Ministries as soon as possible. 

Speaking on behalf of the dissolved Commissioners, Barr. Bemsen Mnyim thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve the state, acknowledging the experience and lessons gained during their tenure.

Barr. Atagher’s appointment as Chief of Staff takes immediate effect. As a former Acting Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank, he brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
