The wife of the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Mrs. Christie Ode, has expressed her gratitude to the Benue State Governor, Rev. Father Hyacinth Alia, for standing by the family during their moment of grief. She made this known on Sunday during a thanksgiving service in memory of her late mother, Josephine Agada, at Saint Jude Catholic Church, Otukpo.
Mrs. Ode noted that the Governor has always been a pillar of support to her husband and the entire family. She called for support for Governor Alia and prayed that God would continue to preserve him. She reflected on her mother’s impactful life, both in the church and at home, and said she would be deeply missed.
In his homily, Reverend Solomon Ochigbo, drawing from Luke 12:13-21, cautioned Christians against the inordinate quest for wealth, which he said had led to many evils, including the shedding of blood. He urged Christians to be content with what they have and to live a life that would draw people to God, warning that God’s judgment would begin from the church.
The Priest described Mama Josephine as a dedicated believer who served God with her whole heart, noting that her contributions to the church, particularly as a choir member, would be deeply missed. The cleric admonished believers not to be carried away by the things of the world, emphasizing the importance of living a Christ-like life.
The memorial service, attended by family, friends, and associates of the Deputy Governor and his wife, included prayers for the family of the late Mama Josephine Agada, followed by a gathering at her residence in Otukpo, where traditional dancers performed to celebrate her good legacies. The occasion was a poignant reminder of the importance of faith, family, and community, as loved ones came together to honor the memory of a remarkable woman.
