The General Manager of Benue Links Limited, Comrade Alexander Fanafa, has reaffirmed his commitment to the development of school sports across the state. The General Manager gave this assurance on Friday when he served as Chairman at the Benue State Finals of All Basic Education School Games held at the LGEA Primary and UBE JSS Kua, Makurdi.
The event, organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration with the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), was held under the theme “Building Champions Through Grassroot Sports.”
In his remarks, the General Manager highlighted the important role sports play in the total development of children. He further commended the Executive Chairman, Board Members, and staff of SUBEB for reviving the Basic Education School Games, a platform he described as essential for nurturing young talents.
He expressed appreciated to Governor Hyacinth Alia for his commitment to revamping sports infrastructure and improving the quality of teaching and learning in basic education sectors across the state. While congratulating all participating athletes, he encouraged them to look beyond the joy of winning and to let the spirit of participation and friendship built through the games stay with them.
The General Manager said, “Sports plays a vital role in the total development of children, and we are committed to supporting the development of school sports in Benue State.”
In her address, the Executive Secretary of SUBEB, Dr. Grace Adagba, expressed gratitude to the Governor, Dr. Hyacinth Alia, for creating an enabling environment for the event and also to the General Manager of Benue Links for sponsoring the star prize awarded to the winner of the games.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards and medals to the winners by the Chief of Staff to the Benue State Governor, Bar. Moses Atagher, and other dignitaries.
