The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, on behalf of the Government and people of the state, deeply mourns the passing of an eminent jurist and the former Chief Judge of Benue State, Honourable Justice Terna Puusu.
Governor Alia in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kuka on Sunday said, “Justice Puusu, through his years of service, distinguished himself as an erudite jurist, a man of impeccable character, and a defender of justice who upheld the highest standards of professionalism and leadership in the judiciary.”
According to the statement, the Governor described late Puusu as one of Benue’s finest legal minds, whose commitment to fairness, justice, and the rule of law will continue to inspire generations within the judiciary and beyond, adding that his contributions to the growth of the justice system in Benue State and Nigeria at large remain indelible.
He called on members of the Bar and the Bench to honour the legacy of the late Chief Judge by sustaining his ideals of integrity, impartiality, and respect for the constitution.
While commiserating with the immediate family, the judiciary, and the entire state, the Governor urges all to take solace in the fact that Puusu lived a fulfilled and worthy life, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, service, and humanity.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul. The late Honourable Justice Terna Puusu served as Chief Judge of Benue State from May 27, 1999, to October 19, 2005 when he attained the statutory age of 65.
