An environmental engineer with Benue state ministry of Water Resources and Environment, Engr. George Ihyuman and Barr. Nguevese Nyikwagh, a legal practitioner and property consultant have found love in each other and subsequently exchanged marital vows in the presence of God, family and friends on Saturday.
The wedding ceremony which took place at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Idye in Makurdi with its reception at the auditorium of Intercontinental College of Technology (old Midway Inn) on Otukpo road in Makurdi was earlier done traditionally at Nyikwagh Hiim’s family compound (behind University of Mkar) Mbatseese, Mbaakon, Ipav, Gboko Local Government of Benue state.
The officiating minister and parish priest of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Idye who also doubles as the dean of High level deanary, Rev. Fr. Peter Paleve while delivering his sermon and joining the couple admonished them to put all their concerns and desires under the care of God.
“Be a couple of prayer because every other person might fail you but God can never fail you. Marriage is the most intimate of all human relationships and the sweetest thing that a man and woman can ever experience in life. In fact, after God, the best thing that can happen to anyone is a good partner. So as you take a step of faith to go into marriage today, let God guide your steps in the right direction and keep believing in each other so that there will be plenty of happy moments in your marriage”, he advised.I
n their separate remarks during the occasion which saw men and women of substance from all walks of life dressed elegantly in shades of flamingos pink, coffee brown, metallic blue and turquoise green in line with the couple’s wedding colours, the sponsors of the wedding, Engr. and Mrs Calistus Abutu, the Chairman of the occasion and retired Director with the Benue State civil service, Mr Igbana Kwaghzan, Chairlady, Mrs Margaret Clement Dooga, a chief nursing officer with Federal Medical Makurdi; wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Mrs Hanmo Akume represented by Mrs Aumbur Agena, Hon. Terkimbi Adzu, the executive Chairman of Ushongo Local Government Council among many other special guests of honour, all wished the couple a hitch-free, stable and successful marriage devoid of argument and misunderstanding.
The groom, Engr. George, son of Ihyuman Bough from Mbaagishi, Mbaduku in Vandeikya Local Government and bride, Barr. Nguevese Nyikwagh, daughter of Nyikwagh Hiim of Mbatseese, Ipav in Gboko Local Government both in Benue state received many gifts and good wishes from dignitaries who graced the occasion from across the country and beyond.
