Niger State House of Assembly has passed into law the 2025 budget estimates of over 1.5 trillion naira.
Presenting the report at a plenary session on Friday, the chairman House Committee on planning and appropriation, Hon Zubairu Ismaila and member representing Rafi state constituency, said the committee devoted their time to ensure that they met the dead line given to them by the House.
Ismaila said that the committee made some adjustments to the budget based on its observations but did not alter the budget size.
He disclosed that 20 million naira was moved from pension and gratuities statutory and added to the 50 million naira proposed recurrent expenditure of Assembly service commission, bring the total to 70 million naira.
The committee chairman added that this move is to cater for the anticipated take off of the Consolidated Legislative Salary structure for legislative staff, legislative duty allowance and overhead cost of the commission.
The Voice also reports that, the committee chairman further observed that the submission of the budget was late which resulted in hasty scrutiny to ensure speedy passage.
He therefore recommended that the executive arm should ensure budget is laid before the legislature at least three months before the end of the year for proper scrutiny and timely passage.
It could be be recalled that on Thursday December 12th 2024, Niger state Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago presented 2025 budget estimates of 1.558,887,565,358 to the State Assembly.
