Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago has advocated for the review of syllabus in schools to address out of school children syndrome and encourage School enrolment.
The Governor made this known Tuesday, during a National Colloquium held in honour of a renowned Literary icon in Niger State, Mohammed Dzukogi on his 60th Birthday.
Umaru Bago who said, the state government is trying to encourage parents to enrol their children in schools, called on relevant stakeholders and experts in education to join hands with the state government to proffer solutions in that regard.
He described out of school children as a menace not just in the state but in the Northern region in general that needs to be tackled in accordance with the global call which Niger State is a signatory to.
He used the occasion to acknowledge Dzukogi for the works he has been doing especially in Hilltop Model Arts and his efforts in organizing Arts Festival in honour of the late Wife of Ibrahim Aliyu saying, he has written his name in the sand of time through his good works and advocated a collaboration to redevelop a storyline for Niger State.
The Governor also reiterated the need to have a 30 year development plan for the state while emphasizing that, it is imperative to immortalize people who have paid their dues by renaming some schools and institutions of learning after them.
The Chairman of the occasion, Prof Kuta Yahaya, described the celebrant as a literary giant, excellent scholar, and an erudite Nigerlite who is a source of inspiration to many.
While congratulating Dzukogi for his literary contributions to the state, Prof. Kuta Yahaya also commended the efforts of the Governor in revamping the educational sector of the State.
Highlight of the occasion was the unveiling of four recently authored books by Dzukogi which Governor Umaru Bago aunched on behalf of the state Government and his family with the sum of N50 Million .
