Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago has urged residents to celebrate Eid-il-Fitr by extending love and kindness to those around them.
The Governor stated this after observing the two unit prayers in commemoration of this year’s Eid IL Fitr at the Minna Eid prayer ground on sunday.
Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, Governor Bago expressed gratitude to Allah for the opportunity to witness the sacred month and celebrate Eid-il-Fitr.
He emphasized the importance of being a “brother’s keeper” by extending hands of fellowship and kindness, especially to vulnerable members of society. Governor Bago also encouraged Muslims to sustain the teachings of Ramadan by cleansing their souls, as one never knows when they will depart this world.
Furthermore, he appealed to residents to remain steadfast in prayer to overcome insecurity challenges, assuring that the federal and state governments are proactive in addressing the situation. Governor Bago stressed the importance of maintaining peace by being law-abiding citizens, reflecting the true teachings of Islam.
The Deputy Governor led other government officials in paying Sallah homage to former Military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida at his residence in Minna. Dignitaries in attendance at the Eid prayer ground included former Niger State Governor Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, the Emir of Minna, and other prominent personalities.
Eid-il-Fitr is a significant celebration in Niger State and Nigeria at large, marking the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. It’s a time for gratitude, communal bonds, and charitable deeds.
