Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has received 17 victims of kidnapping who were rescued in Kaduna State through the combined efforts of the Kaduna Police Command and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA). The victims, 15 from one household and two from another, are from Kango and Wuloto communities in Munya Local Government Area.
The rescue operation was made possible through inter-agency collaboration and strategic intelligence deployment by the anti-kidnapping unit of the Kaduna State Police Command and the NSA’s office. The victims were rescued unharmed through a non-kinetic approach and were later handed over to the Niger State government.
The Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, received the victims on behalf of the Governor on Friday at the state police headquarters in Minna
Governor Bago commended the security agencies in Kaduna for their efforts, acknowledging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to combating insecurity. He expressed optimism that insecurity would soon be a thing of the past, allowing Nigerians to live without fear. The governor also appreciated the Kaduna State government for providing medical care to the victims.
He directed that the victims remain in government custody for a while to ensure they are fully fit before reuniting with their families. He urged the families not to rush to take back their rescued relatives, prioritizing their health and well-being.
The governor assured the state police command and other security agencies of continued support in their efforts to rid the state of criminal elements. He also called on all Nigerians to support the security agencies and pray for the government’s success, which he believes will be a blessing to Niger State.
The State Police Commissioner, CP Adamu Elleman, reiterated the command’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements from the state, warning that those involved in kidnapping and other crimes should either repent or face arrest and prosecution.
The rescued Victims and their ages are Williams Ubadia, 15 years, Samuel Ezekiel (15), Duza Ezekiel (13); Shaku Ishaya (12), Sunday Ezekiel (8), Jessy Friday (6), Rebecca Ezekiel (32); Jummai Ishaya (32), Terriza Friday (30)
Others included Alice Ezekiel (35),Victoria Ishaya (32), Blessing Ezekiel (20), Gloria Ubadia (13), Gift Ubadia (10), Charity Ezekiel (9), Alheri Ishaya (5) and Favour Ezekiel (1)
