Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has convened a stakeholders meeting to address the persistent attacks and killings of innocent citizens in the state. The meeting aimed to find lasting solutions to the crisis and bring the situation under control.
Addressing the gathering on Monday in Jos, Governor Mutfwang emphasized the need for frank and honest discussions, stating, “Ladies and gentlemen, my leaders, I appeal to you: let’s talk freely and agree on a way forward. I will listen to your counsel, suggestions, and inputs.”
The Governor revealed that Plateau State is under siege, with recent attacks exacerbating long-standing instability. He noted that President Bola Tinubu is concerned about the situation, having called for a briefing on the matter. Since then, the state has been working closely with security agencies to bring the situation under control.
Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to members of the National Assembly who attended the meeting, saying, “Let me specially thank members of the National Assembly for turning up for this meeting and showing that you are true sons of Plateau.”
The stakeholders meeting, attended by serving and retired security personnel, high-ranking traditional rulers, and civil servants, went into closed doors. A communiqué is expected at the end of the meeting, outlining the way forward for addressing the crisis in Plateau State.
