The Church Leaders Denominational Forum in Plateau State, led by Rev. Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo, and Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo, Monday organized a street protest walk to the Government House in Jos, demanding a permanent solution to the ongoing killings of innocent citizens in Plateau and Benue States.
The protesters, dressed in black attire, trekked over 5 kilometers through the Jos metropolis, presenting a six-page protest letter to Governor Caleb Mutfwang for onward delivery to President Bola Tinubu.
The letter outlined several demands, including: The establishment and equipping of state police to protect lives and property, particularly in rural areas; urgent action to end the killings in Plateau and Benue States; arrest and prosecution of perpetrators in accordance with the laws of the land.
The Christian leaders expressed their grief and frustration over the attacks, calling on the federal government to take immediate action to address the crisis. The protest drew a massive turnout, with participants showing solidarity in their demand for justice and security.
