Benue-born Abuja based philanthropist, Engr. Jerome Ugboho has strongly condemned renewed attacks, killings and the destruction of properties in Benue communities. Ugboho made the condemnation in a statement released to journalists at the weekend in Makurdi while reacting to the resurgence of killings targeting various communities at different locations within the state
He mentioned areas affected including Otobi- Akpa in Otukpo, Agatu and most recently the massacre of 56 innocent farmers as confirmed Saturday by Benue State Government, at Tyuluv, Saror and Mbawar in Ukum, Une Katsina-ala and Gondozua in Logo Local Government Areas.
The philanthropist described the killings as a black day for Sankera and the entire state.He noted with dissatisfaction the unwarranted attacks on helpless and unarmed farmers, saying the barbaric occurrence is totally unacceptable.
Ugboho who said the attacks have become too many, emphasized the need for all stakeholders in the state irrespective of political affiliations to unite and harness ideas that would bring about practical and lasting solutions to the wanton killings and destruction of properties
The Benue born philanthropist sympathized with those displaced, as well as all those that lost loved ones during the tragic attack, praying God to grant the souls of the faithful departed eternal rest and those left behind the fortitude to bear the loss.
Ugboho equally called on security agencies to redouble their efforts in combating the menace to also see that peace returns to the affected communities.
