A total of 300 individuals, including women and youths, across Niger State have benefited from critical agricultural inputs distributed in a collaborative effort between the Renewed Hope Initiative of the Wife of the President, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, and the Niger State Government.
The distribution ceremony, flagged off by the Wife of the Niger State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Bago, in Minna on Tuesday, aimed to empower women and youths in agriculture. The initiative, described as a “planting for the future” program, covers diverse areas of agriculture, including crop farming, livestock production, poultry, and aquaculture.
Hajiya Fatima Bago emphasized that supporting women and youths with agricultural tools would help them thrive in agriculture, strengthen the food production chain, and build a more inclusive and resilient agricultural economy.
She appreciated the efforts of the founder of the Renewed Hope Initiative, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, and the Niger State Government for their contributions to the program’s success.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affirmative Action, Mrs. Mary Noel Berje, noted that the program aligns with the New Niger Agenda to harness the full potential of citizens, particularly women, in driving agriculture and ensuring food security. Out of the 300 beneficiaries, 100 are women, and 100 are youths, including selected public school students.
The Commissioner for Basic Education, Dr. Hadiza Mohammed, and the Chairperson of Nigeria Women in Agriculture, Niger State Chapter, Mrs. Victoria Alkali, commended the present administration for their continued support to women and for including public schools in agricultural activities.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the organizers and promised to utilize the tools effectively to boost agriculture in Niger State.
