The Management of Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi has officially announced the change of its name to Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM). This development follows the passage of a law by the Benue State House of Assembly and its subsequent signing into law by the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, on December 30, 2024.
According to a press release signed by Mr. Terna Alu, Deputy Registrar, Council and Management Affairs, the renaming of the university reflects the decision and policy of the Benue State Government and is now legally in effect.
He said the university has notified principal officers and the general public that all communication documents and correspondence will henceforth bear the new name.
The press release notes that despite the name change, the university remains committed to its mandate of delivering quality tertiary education adding that the new name marks a significant milestone in the institution’s history, and it is expected to continue thriving under its new identity.
