The Plateau State Government has donated N2 million to the family of late Ukeyima Thomas, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who died in a road accident last month.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Musa Ashoms, presented the cash donation to the bereaved family on Monday at the State Secretariat in Jos.
Hon. Ashoms commiserated with the family, urging them to find solace in the Lord, while acknowledging the pain of their loss. He emphasized the government’s commitment to the welfare of all citizens, particularly the less privileged.
The NYSC Plateau State Coordinator, Mr. Yarala Jonathan Iliya, described the late Ukeyima Thomas as a committed corps member whose life was tragically cut short. He appreciated the government’s gesture to the family.
The Chairman of Kanke Local Government Area, Hon. Lapching Ezekiel Golime, who spoke through the Council Secretary, Hon. Emmanuel Gompil, described the deceased as a dedicated corps member who worked with zeal. Gompil noted that Ukeyima Thomas had proposed constructing a tennis court for the secondary school where he served.
The family expressed gratitude to the Plateau State Government for the support. Ukeyima’s uncle, Mr. Fortune Ternenge Ate, thanked the government and prayed for divine replenishment.
The deceased’s mother, Mrs. Mwuase Ukeyima, appreciated the gesture, recalling that her late son studied Public Administration at Benue State University and was posted to Plateau State for national service.
