The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi,( NSUK ) Prof Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, has approved the appointment of Prof Terhemba Shija as the Director of the Institute of Governance and Development Studies.
The appointment which is to take effect from June 24, 2025, will last till June 23, 2027.
In a release signed by the Registrar of the University, Dr Bala Ahmed, the appointment is a strategic move to strengthen research, policy formulation, and intellectual engagement in governance and development studies.
Prof Shija is expected to provide strong academic and administrative leadership to advance the Institute’s mission.
The Registrar stated, “As Director, you are expected to provide effective and efficient academic and administrative leadership that will further enhance sound academic policies and programmes for the University”.
Prof Shija is a distinguished academic from the Department of English. He is expected to be reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor in his new role.
“The University community has extended its congratulations to the Benue Professor as he assumes this critical leadership position”.
“This appointment is seen as a significant development in the University’s efforts to promote sound governance and development-oriented scholarship.
“The appointment of Prof Shija demonstrates Nasarawa State University’s commitment to strengthening its academic and research programmes”, the statement added.
