The Chairman of the Tiv Choir at NKST (Universal Reformed Christian Church) High-level in High-level classis, Mr. Terna Vandekaan, said the impact of house-to-house fellowship on individual members of the church is profound.
Mr. Vandekaan made this revelation on Tuesday to The Voice Religion during one of their outings at the residence of Mr. Benjamin Kende at Number 5 Calabar Street, High-level Makurdi. He explained that the Tiv Choir unit has a tradition of routine song evangelism, where they visit the homes of individual members every Tuesday to sing praises to God and pray together.
He explained that the concept has expanded church membership and revived old communicant members who had backslid in the past. “The impact is significant,” he said. “There are some communicant members of our church who either left or became weak, but these activities won them back and reintegrated them with the church.”
The Choir Chair intimated that the choir group is open to honoring invitations to residences for praises and worship between 5 pm and 7 pm on Tuesdays, including those who are non-members of the church, provided there is space and seating to accommodate their number, which ranges between 120 and 175 choristers.
Preaching on the theme “God May Delay Acting on Your Needs but He Will Surely Meet Them at an Appropriate Time” during the fellowship, Deacon David Shausu took his Bible reading from the book of Genesis 41:39-45. Using the story of Joseph, who passed through betrayal, slavery, and prison but eventually became the savior of nations, Deacon Shausu admonished the congregation to keep serving God even amidst challenges.
He assured them that just as God elevated Joseph after his tribulations and trials, He will equally bring a significant transformation in their lives at His appointed time.
In his vote of thanks, the host, Mr. Benjamin Kende, expressed happiness at being the host of the occasion and wished everyone a safe return to their various destinations.
