Following a review meeting attended by representatives of over 300 non-indigenous individuals from the Middle Belt region and beyond in Plateau State on Sunday in Jos, native leaders have expressed their confidence in Governor Caleb Mutfwang by passing a vote of confidence. They have also endorsed him for the governorship elections in 2027.
Hon. Dan Kwada, Coordinator of the forum and Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Caleb Mutfwang on ethnic nationalities and Middle Belt matters, in an interview with journalists shortly after the review meeting, stated that the vote of confidence in Governor Mutfwang was well-deserved. He cited the governor’s transparency, relative peace, and inclusive governance as the reasons behind this endorsement.
Hon. Dan Kwada explained that Governor Mutfwang has done what his predecessors failed to do several years back and therefore, deserved to be accorded full support to continue the good works beyond 2027.He revealed that the chief security detail of Governor Mutfwang is a non-indigene, and several other non-indigenes are serving in the present administration of Mutfwang, contributing their quota to the development of the state.
He stressed that “Governor Caleb Mutfwang has done what his predecessors did not do; for us, Governor Mutfwang has emerged as the new leader of Middle Belt politics; we will be looking forward to him for political directions.” Dan Kwada noted.
One of the native leaders, from Kebbi state, a Zuru man by tribe, Rev Peter Zaka, also in an interview with journalists noted that Governor Mutfwang has done extremely well in managing the affairs of the state to the admiration of all. The endorsement of the governor was unanimously done in the presence of Hon Dan Kwada, Senior Special Assistant to the governor, whom the natives also said, has been doing well in his assigned duties.
During the deliberations, some leaders who spoke about the good works of Governor Mutfwang pledged to mobilize their kinsmen to relocate their voting units to Plateau state so that they will fully participate in the 2027 elections without hindrance. They assured Governor Mutfwang that they will fully support his political journey beyond 2027. The non-indigenes prayed for the successful end of the ongoing tenure of the Governor and urged that he tackle insecurities bedeviling Plateau state.
Natives from other states of the federation living in Plateau State, particularly states around the Middle Belt region, were predominant at the review meeting.
