By Odeh Ogaji

The Minority Leader of the Senate and Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Abba Moro, has charged couples to depend on God as the only dependable pillar to hold their marriage at all times of need and want. He stated this on Saturday during the wedding reception in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Ohehunna at Sharaton Hotels, Makurdi.

Senator Abba Moro, who was the chairman of the occasion, urged the couple to love each other as Christ loves the Church and the world, even to the point of giving His very life, to promote and keep their marriage vows to the end.

The Senate Minority Leader, who was represented by former Okpokwu State Constituency Assembly member, Rt. Hon. Solomon Onah, said he would have loved to be present to witness the ceremony but had to attend to other pressing national issues. He promised to host them in Abuja.

Earlier, during the solemnization of the holy matrimony at St. Camillus Catholic Chaplaincy, School of Nursing, Makurdi, the officiating Priest, Rev. Fr. Julius Akosu of the Catholic Diocese of Gboko, said marriage is God’s divine instruction to man and admonished the couple to promote the union till death do them part.

“He revealed this divine warning to all men and women of all ages and generations to abide by it. Genesis 2:18 states that man should not be alone; God brought woman to fill the gap,” he said.

He emphasized that man and woman should promote marriage through greater love, endurance, and sacrifice for each other, as Christ and the Church do, till death do them part.

Rev. Fr. Akosu commended the couple, Mr. and Mrs. Ohehunna, for cherishing this favor with the fear of God in dealing with each other, with utmost respect for each other, marriage vows, and divine promise to be fruitful in all their endeavors.

In a remark, the father of the day, Engineer Morgan Okwoche, expressed his joy for the successful marriage and urged the couple to respect each other.

On his part, Hon. Okwe Evelyn acknowledged the favor of God and prayed for Him to continue to show more blessings on the marriage.

The father of the groom and president of Omi-Ny-Igede Development Association, Jalingo Branch, Mr. Lawrence Ikpe, was full of praises to God. He said it is the fulfillment of God’s promise in his life and family, adding that he remains grateful to God. He advised the couple not to allow third parties in their marriage but to always put their trust in God of all possibilities to succeed in facing challenges and breakthroughs.

The couple, Mr. and Mrs. Ohehunna, appreciated those who supported them in one way or another during and after the marriage, praying that God will grant everyone His bountiful blessings.
