Groups of persons or individuals, no matter how highly placed, engaging in acts aimed at pushing the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia out of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been warned to desist forthwith.
Members of the North Central Forum of the APC gave this warning Tuesday when they paid a solidarity visit to the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Benue State Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula at Government House, Makurdi.
Speaking through their Chairman, Dr. Salah Abdullahi Azazzaga, the group expressed worry over the constant wranglings within the APC in Benue State which they said portend a negative future for the party, not only in the state but the entire North Central and the nation at large.
“We cannot fold our arms and watch someone push Governor Alia out of the APC. We have the capacity and connection to deal decisively with such a person,” the group declared.
The group while calling for unity among supporters of APC in Benue State, acknowledged the popularity of Governor Alia which according to them played a key role in the victory of the party in the state in the last general elections, adding that attempting to push out someone who has added great value to the party and still has great potential to contribute to the party in future elections is totally unacceptable.
They lauded Governor Alia’s choice of a spokesperson who is not only passionate about policies and ideologies of his principal, but also courageous and knowledgeable about political affairs in Benue State and Nigeria at large.
Responding, the Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula expressed appreciation to the group for acknowledging the developmental strides of the Governor.
Kula who gave a run down of Governor Alia’s achievements in various sectors including Healthcare delivery, Human capital development, Education, Agriculture and Infrastructural Development among others within his short time in office, assured them of the readiness of the Governor to transform the state towards improving the lives of the people.
After their interactive session, the Chief Press Secretary led the group on a visit to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital and the High Level Underpass to give them an opportunity to have first hand information on some of the developmental strides of the Governor.
Other members of the forum who were part of the visiting team include former Commissioner for Land and Survey, Nasarawa State Prof. Ahmed Salihu Alizaga, Dr. Malik Aliyu, Hon. Magaji Sule, Hon. Nasiru Abdullahi, and the Director of Special Duties, APC North Central, Comrade Lubem Gbenda, amongst others.
